In the morning I was making a web based form and in case of errors I was supposed to show a modal dialog. I was in hurry and I wanted to focus on making a dialog box using Ajax (nothing big though just had to make a 'div' appear in the middle of the 'viewport' and make the form uneditable). So I just wrote a random error message "This is an Error". In the evening I showed the code to a peer for review and the first comment I got was, "I know it's an error, I want to know what is this error". He did not notice my cool modal dialog but he noticed that error message.
Error messages are important as essentially that is what you are communicating to the consumer. The way you are communicating is important but the message is the crux. It struck me when my computer suddenly gave a "Serious Error" message.
MS people are smart, they did tell me what error I have; a "Serious Error" and I did not get this message when the error occurred but after they had recovered my comp from a "Serious Error". Proactive service, I am far from impressed. I am thankful to MS at the same time for demonstrating how bad error messages get noticed before cool effects.

Is this a real error message from Windows??? Or just a adobe photoshop trick??
I have seen some good fake Microsoft Windows messages, like "Windows is busy, have coffee come back and pray."
Yes it's a real Microsoft Windows error.
They are good at inspiring such spoofs, like the one you mentioned.
